Improved service and more information for customers and business partners
FirstSpirit, the Content Management System produced by Dortmund-based software house e-Spirit AG, is actively supporting the information process at Getriebebau NORD: The new website www.nord.com offers significantly improved service and greater clarity, meaning that users are now able to find the information they need even more quickly and conveniently.
Getriebebau NORD was founded in 1965 and today ranks among the world’s leading companies in the drive technology sector. The mechanical and electronic solutions it produces are used in the most diverse areas – from baggage carousels in airports and drives for theatre stages to controlling movements in industrial bakeries.
The recipe for success is the combination of technical innovation and strong customer focus. These same standards were applied to the website restructuring.
In order that customers’ requirements and expectations are also met as fully as possible on the web, Getriebebau NORD worked together with IT service provider, interactive tools. The Berlin-based agency specialises in developing integrated web presences and creates communication solutions for the intra-, extra- and Internet.
Visitors to the new site now profit from a considerably extended range of information and services: products from the mechanics and electronics sectors can be configured online and downloaded in the form of 3D models and drawings. Catalogues, operating and maintenance instructions can be simply placed in a central shopping basket and complete the offer of information.
Central content management for increased efficiency
Getriebebau NORD chose the FirstSpirit Content Management System so that it can maintain all the data necessary for this centrally.
The client/server application is implemented entirely in Java and separates structure, content and presentation of the data. Content can be updated once and reused in different contexts, meaning that a website can be restructured in a matter of seconds.
FirstSpirit can generate any output format from the content stored in media-neutral XML format and output it to whatever live system is chosen. Of course, it also supports websites and printed media.
FirstSpirit is based on Unicode and therefore supports all languages and fonts. This was an important factor for Getriebebau NORD, as the website is already offered not just in German but also in British and US English versions. It is planned to extend this to a total of 16 languages by the end of 2007.
The first phase of the ambitious project was completed just in time for the HANNOVER MESSE and its further development is already being planned.
