FirstSpirit - Maximum Performance for All Portals
Effective immediately, FirstSpirit also integrates into Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server
At CeBIT, e-Spirit will be presenting high-end functions for effective content management for large global Web sites
FirstSpirit, the Content Management System from the Dortmund-based software house e-Spirit, will demonstrate its full spectrum of performance at the CeBIT. Now FirstSpirit provides even more advantages for companies with complex Internet and intranet projects. in|SHARE, an adesso tool allowing comprehensive integration in the Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2007 (MOSS), boosts FirstSpirit’s ability to integrate, making it the ideal Content Management System for companies with SAP, IBM, and Microsoft portals.
Portal Perfect
The newcomer to the area of portal integration is in|Share, developed in collaboration with adesso AG. Designed for the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, in|Share completes the product range of integration solutions. This means that FirstSpirit boasts perfect connections to SAP NetWeaver, IBM WebSphere Portal, and now also Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. It goes without saying that FirstSpirit can serve all these portals simultaneously, and thus output the same content to different portals.
No matter which portal is used, users profit in particular from being able to maintain content without needing special portal expertise to do so. FirstSpirit makes it easy to edit content and then output it to the portal together with navigation structures, authorizations, and languages. The content can be output in any language or font required, to both Web sites and PDF documents.
Portal functions at a glance:
- Maintenance of multilingual content directly in the page object
- Content creation in as many output formats as needed
- Creation and maintenance of portal menu items directly from FirstSpirit
- Personalization of content by editors
- Freely definable editorial processes
- Automatic generation of print or PDF versions of portal content
- Reuse of content for Internet and extranet projects
- Editors do not need portal expertise
- Portal administrators do not need FirstSpirit expertise
High-End Content Management
FirstSpirit’s high-end functions are principally designed for large, globally active companies for which the high performance and flexibility of a system are just as important as system usability.
FirstSpirit is a client/server application implemented completely in Java. One of its main functions is to separate structure, content, and presentation. Content can be edited once and reused in different contexts, meaning a Web site can be restructured in any manner in a matter of seconds. FirstSpirit is based on Unicode and supports all languages and fonts.
Almost all databases can be integrated with little programming required and without redundancy, and a graphical editor supports the creation of the database schemas. As a version control repository, FirstSpirit also permits seamless tracking of all changes and access to a system status in the past. High scalability and performance ensure that the system remains stable even with several hundred simultaneous users.
FirstSpirit pays special attention to usability. It gives its users options: Regular users can choose a convenient Java client, occasional users an intuitive Web client, thus helping to avoid superfluous training costs.
FirstSpirit will generate any output format from the content stored in media-neutral XML format, and output it to whatever live system is chosen. Of course, it also supports Web pages and printed media. These high-quality functions are exemplified by the portal integration solutions.
