FirstSpirit Integration Now Also Available for the IBM WebSphere Portal
e-Spirit expands its product portfolio
e-Spirit’s new ContentIntegrator for IBM WebSphere Portal enables complete integration of FirstSpirit’s CMS contents into IBM WebSphere Portal presences.
e-Spirit, manufacturer of the content management system FirstSpirit, has expanded its product portfolio and now offers a module that enables simple and seamless content integration into the IBM WebSphere Portal. According to current estimations, IBM and SAP’s portal technologies cover about 70% of the global market. The strategic decision to suitably support IBM technology in addition to the SAP portal has enabled e-Spirit to expand its leading role in CMS integration within the portal industry.
Thus, the FirstSpirit ContentIntegrator for IBM WebSphere Portal is a further step on the road to making content available not only in various publication channels, but also on various portal platforms. The contents maintained in FirstSpirit can be used in the portals, but now also in normal websites, PDF documents and other output formats.
Since the SAP Business Package for FirstSpirit was introduced, many companies with complex internet and intranet presences have already decided on this powerful solution, which, thanks to its deep integration, can considerably ease workloads and optimize business processes for employees and IT support. Companies can remain flexible when choosing any of the suitable portal technologies, because both IBM and SAP portals can be used with the FirstSpirit content management system for the same contents—either simultaneously or by switching between portal technologies.
The Hamburg-based technology service provider ETHALON GmbH developed the FirstSpirit ContentIntegrator for IBM WebSphere Portal based on the JSR-168 standard. ETHALON has many years of experience in the area of IBM WebSphere technology and was therefore in the position to implement a high-quality integration into the IBM portal, which extends just as deeply into the portal as the Business Package for the SAP NetWeaver Portal.
The solution, which will be further developed and sold in a joint venture, will be put to future productive use at the well-known company Ludwig Görtz GmbH. Görtz, with over 3,000 employees, is among the most profitable shoe retailers in Germany with more than 240 branches in more than 90 cities in Germany and Austria.
As in the solution for the SAP portal, editors in FirstSpirit can also administer their contents without any specialized knowledge about portals. Content can be maintained with a single sign-on directly in FirstSpirit, which is set up for the various user requirements with the help of a Java and Web client. However, these processes remain completely transparent for the portal user — content administration and maintenance is done seamlessly in form, navigation, optics, and content.
