CeBIT 2005 was a total success

SAP and CMS: e-Spirit & hlp at CeBIT

The numerous CeBIT visitors at Booth A12 in Hall 4 made one thing clear: Content Management has achieved great significance in national and international companies. "In this regard the software issues that are becoming increasingly significant are power, adaptability, and simple handling - just any Content Management System (CMS) is not adequate these days", according to HLP CEO Thorsten Heid.

Publishing is one thing, presentation within the framework of an enterprise portal is something totally different - medium-sized companies, as well as large enterprises, are well aware of this problem. Thus on one hand current technical requirements, such as utilization of the SAP Enterprise Portal as uniform user interface, must be taken into consideration. On the other hand, online editors in the company have no interest in participating in extensive SAP training, just to be able to handle their own work (creating and publishing content). The solution that found great approval during and after CeBit is called: SAP EP Business Package for FirstSpirit

Thorsten Heid commented: "Jointly with the well-known CMS provider, e-Spirit, HLP has been successful in developing an attractive and intelligent solution that supplements the diverse implementation fields of the SAP Enterprise Portal with a high-performance CMS. With this product we have apparently hit a nerve with many project leaders, IT directors, and departments."

PDM and DTP Package for FirstSpirit

The Package, PDM and DTP for FirstSpirit, for seamless linkage between the online world and the print world developed by the companies Gieseking & Grunzig, and Werk II GmbH - also met with great resonance at this year's CeBIT.

For many companies, advertising information is located in DTP programs and Office documents. Data transfer without software support is cumbersome and error-intensive. The PDM and DTP Package for FirstSpirit offers the possibility to use these data sources efficiently to set up a media-neutral product database. Likewise the enterprise-wide data sources available in the FirstSpirit ECMS can be used in setting up the product database. Thus seamless linkage is possible between the online world and the print world: Editorial content can be created and maintained via the Content Management System; product data are located in the connected database. All relevant information then flows into the DTP software via predefined templates in order to there initiate final polishing and print.

On the e-Spirit booth countless CeBit visitors emphasized the necessity and elegance of this approach, because considerable cost savings could be realized through the integrative approach of the package.

Web content accessible to people with disabilities

A third area of emphasis was creating and entering barrier-free web content, which was likewise strongly frequented: CeBIT visitors recognized that FirstSpirit offers the ideal platform for technical implementation and maintenance of content-intensive Internet sites, portals, or intranet environments: Thus FirstSpirit generates the required HTML elements and attributes and supports the user in creating web sites that conform to guidelines.

Through the separation of content, navigation, structure, and design that is anchored in the system, it is even possible to generate complex pages in accordance with the WCAG1/ATAG1 and BITV guidelines. For content maintenance in running operation FirstSpirit guarantees implementation running in background according to the appropriate guidelines.
