FirstSpirit™ WebClient

Best-in-class usability optimizes content management processes

Online editors, no matter if they are occasional users only working rarely with the CMS or professionals who have to do a lot of content updates every day, want an extremely easy to use, intuitive interface, which they can utilise very efficiently and without training.

The user prompting must ensure that they cannot make any mistakes and that the editors quickly reach their goal.

FirstSpirit™ provides an innovative WebClient which enables maintenance of the website directly in the browser. It has been developed for best-in-class usability and with a modern, intuitive design, therefore optimally covering these requirements.

Content Management – as easy as surfing in the web

The browser as a tool: working directly on the website

Working directly in the preview

What you see is what you get

Content management couldn't be any easier: The editors surf the preview just like the real live site. The places where they are authorised to make changes are highlighted on "mouse-over", blending in the editing options. Users simply select the required text and page elements with a click of the mouse to modify or add content.

Form-based content entry

Immediate perfect content

FirstSpirit™ provides the editor with clear forms containing type-checking input fields for maintenance and entry of all content. The advantages are perfectly obvious:

  • The editor is optimally guided through the content maintenance.
  • Tabs increase clarity and group content elements which logically belong together.
  • Input errors are avoided as the forms are able to validate the entries. For example, the editor can only enter a correct date, as they are unable to enter the numbers manually, and a calendar is displayed instead from which they select the date.
  • Only the precise formatting options approved for use within the scope of the corporate design are made available for the editor to use in the forms.

Ease of use: drag & drop support for faster content updates

With FirstSpirit 5, extensive drag & drop support has been added to the WebClient. Drag & drop functionality for setting up, inserting and moving content elements on a website as well as for uploading objects from external systems makes website creation way faster, reducing work steps and enhancing the joy of use.

Convenient media asset management included

Skilful management of pictures, graphics, audio files, films and Flash animations

Editors can revert to the embedded, clear media management of FirstSpirit at any time, to audio-visually underpin their texts.

Not only the existing media data is available. New media of any type can be conveniently loaded and used immediately – per drag & drop from the desktop or other sources. The editor does not have to select precisely the right format: FirstSpirit automatically calculates the added pictures to the correct size for all defined delivery channels, including mobile. It also allows the definition of picture cutouts in the easiest way possible.

Elaborate approval processes via workflows and track changes view

Quality assurance included

Graphically modelled workflows ensure high quality

On request, all the changes made can be subjected to multi-level quality control using graphically modellable workflows:

  • The required workflows are simply and/or complexly graphically modelled as required
  • Permissions control the processes
  • SImple release requests for the editors
  • Integrated e-mail notification and task list

Track changes view for quick approvals

To make approval processes as easy as possible, a "track changes" modus has been added to the WebClient with FirstSpirit 5. All changed paragraphs can be highlighted and the amendmends are displayed in a detailed comparison view.

Automatic publication

Released pages go live

If the responsible chief editor releases (approves) the new page, the information is published automatically. This is done, for example, directly by the FirstSpirit workflow, so that the editors do not have to do anything else once a release or approval has been given for the page.
