FirstSpirit™ WebEdit - as easy as surfing in the web

Many editors rarely work or do little work with a content management system. They therefore want an extremely easy to use, intuitive interface, which they can utilise without training.

The user prompting must ensure that they cannot make any mistakes and that the editors quickly reach their goal.

FirstSpirit™ has an innovative WebClient, which enables maintenance of the website directly in the browser and therefore optimally covers these requirements.

We recommend you take a minute to find out more about some of the highlights of the FirstSpirit™ WebEdit client:

The browser as a tool

Working directly in the preview

What you see is what you get

Content management couldn't be any easier: The editors surf the preview as if it was the real live site. And at the places where they are authorised to make changes, they simply select the required text and page elements with a click of the mouse and modify or add content.

Changing on-site

If the editor moves their mouse over the page, the areas in which they are allowed to make changes are highlighted and the assigned functions can be used.

Form-based content entry

Immediate perfect content

FirstSpirit™ provides the editor with clear forms containing type-checking input fields for maintenance and entry of all content. The advantages are perfectly obvious:

  • The editor is optimally guided through the content maintenance.
  • Tabs increase clarity and group content elements which logically belong together.
  • Input errors are avoided as the forms are able to validate the entries. For example, the editor can only enter a correct date, as they are unable to enter the numbers manually, and a calendar is displayed instead from which they select the date.
  • Only the precise formatting options approved for use within the scope of the corporate design are made available for the editor to use in the forms.

Creating new pages

Generating web pages

Enhancing the navigation

Defining new headings and navigation entries on the page is just as easy as modifying and creating content on existing pages.

Filling with information

The page is brought to life

After the navigation has been enhanced, the page can be filled with life - i.e. with content. The editor simply uses the "Add Section" function. They can then select from the content types allowed for the column and start the maintenance work.

In this example, the editor inserts the already available current press releases into the marginal column.

Adding further information

Finalising the page

To finish the page, the editor selects the automatically generated product overview in the middle column. This is created on the basis of the current product data.

With only a few steps, the editor has generated a new page and has filled it with content!

Convenient media management included

Skilful management of pictures, graphics, audio files, films and Flash animations

Editors can fall back on the embedded, clear media management of FirstSpirit™ at any time, to audio-visually underpin their texts.

Not only the existing media data is available to them. New media - not matter what type it is - can be conveniently loaded and used immediately. The picture editor does not have to select precisely the right "format": FirstSpirit™ automatically calculates the added pictures to the correct size and allows the definition of picture cutouts in the easiest way possible.

Workflows

Quality assurance included

Graphically modelled workflows ensure high quality

On request, all the changes made can be subjected to multi-level quality control using graphically modellable workflows:

  • The required workflows are simply and/or complexly graphically modelled as required
  • Permissions control the processes
  • Simple invocation by the editors
  • Integrated e-mail notification and task list

Automatic publication

Released pages go live

If the responsible chief editor releases (approves) the new page, the information is published automatically. This is done, for example, directly by the FirstSpirit™ workflow, so that the editors do not have to do anything else once a release or approval has been given for the page.
