ECE chooses FirstSpirit for CMS Platform
Europe’s market leader in the development and realization of downtown shopping malls, ECE Project Management GmbH & Co. KG, has chosen to use FirstSpirit as their Content Management System (CMS). The software developed by the Dortmund-based e-Spirit Company GmbH will serve as a platform ensuring the standardized administration of information on the intranet as well as the management of individual shopping center Web sites. Besides “classical” features such as content maintenance, the intranet will be provided with a single sign-on solution, automatically granting intranet access to ECE employees when they log on to their workstations. This way staff from different departments can access information tailored for their specific field of work without having to log on a second time.
For the past four decades, ECE has been designing, implementing, leasing and managing innovative shopping malls, offices, specialty centers and even whole city quarters like at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin or in Augsburg, Germany. There are currently 83 shopping malls under the company’s management, with another 15 under construction or in planning. Altogether, ECE administers and provides for about 26 million square feet of retail space. Operating in 15 countries, the company has high standards when it comes to managing its Internet and intranet data and keeping it up to date.
Andreas Fengler, CMS Project Manager at ECE, has this to say about the choice of FirstSpirit as the central Content Management System: "What we liked especially about the system is the open architecture and the high scalability. This enabled us to meet the high demands we placed on the new intranet design. We will also be able to plan and implement further measures for the Internet without difficulty."
In addition to using FirstSpirit as the CMS for the group’s Web site, ECE has also decided to centrally administer the Internet presences of individual shopping malls such as the Phoenix-Center-Harburg (www.phoenix-center-harburg.de ) with FirstSpirit. Using microsites, Web sites for existing as well as future malls can be created rapidly. These microsites have a uniform structure but their individual layout and content can be maintained locally.
