FirstSpirit’s New Year Resolution: To Look and Work Better than Ever!

It’s a new year and time for a new look. Our mission is to provide easy-to-use software that helps you create the most compelling digital experiences. With that perspective, we’ve listened to your feedback and updated the design of the FirstSpirit Digital Experience Platform user interface (UI) to make the user experience (UX) even more streamlined, intuitive and easy to use. With the release of our latest version this month comes a fresh, new design with a familiar experience. Here’s a quick look at what we’ve done to improve FirstSpirit.

Updated Look and Feel

A modern color scheme and style revitalizes and enhances the UX for editors. The most striking change is the new FirstSpirit start screen. The tiles for selecting clients’ UIs are replaced by new icons. Editorial and administrative tools are visually distinguished from each other. You’ll find login and network settings located in the header, with large visual elements and micro-animations shaping the first impression.

SiteArchitect (FirstSpirit’s interface for marketing technologists and developers) and ContentCreator (the interface for content contributors) have also undergone changes to their look and feel as well. A unified, modernized color palette gives the FirstSpirit tools a harmonized design. These cosmetic changes shift the color spectrum from classic software gray with low-saturation colors to a modern blue-gray with glowing accents. Buttons and icons are rounder in many places, and the toolbar is more clearly arranged. The various editorial tools are visually aligned to enhance the UX when business users switch between client interfaces. The standard icons have also been reworked; for example, “saving” work is no longer represented by an outdated floppy disk icon, but rather a more up-to-date abstract symbol.

Support for Future Extensions

In addition to modernizing the look and feel, the new design also provides support for the roll-out of upcoming FirstSpirit extensions. The same design will be used for upcoming Content Experience Tools (e.g. the FirstSpirit FragmentCreator), and the interfaces of existing and new clients will blend seamlessly. Future FirstSpirit versions will include additional incremental design changes.

If you haven’t seen the new design rebrush yet, let’s take a look!

See the difference? The design update does not involve any functional changes for editors or developers; all functions are still available where you would normally expect them. Also, it drives no additional effort for developers and operations. If you use the custom toolbar, report or plug-in icons with fixed background colors (instead of transparency), they can be manually adapted to the new color scheme.
