e-Spirit, Partners Kick into Gear at CeBIT 2013

Last week was quite a busy week for the e-Spirit team. We went to Hannover, Germany and exhibited at CeBIT which is known as “the world's largest trade fair showcasing digital IT and telecommunications solutions for home and work environments.” Twelve of our European partners joined us in our booth including Acando, adesso, ARITHNEA, communicode, comspace, Eloqua, HLP, MATERNA, MovingIMAGE24, Red Hat, and USU.

The event had roughly 4,000 exhibitors from 70 different counties and the theme of the show was the “shareconomy.” While other traditionally large tech shows, such as CES in Las Vegas and Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, showcase a majority of consumer and mobile technologies, CeBIT puts an emphasis on the entire digital business spectrum ranging from enterprise software to robotics and the latest cloud craze. CeBIT attendance was down by a little over 8% to 285,000 compared to last year , but our numbers were slightly up and we had a constant stream of visitors with and without appointment coming into our booth to speak with us and our partners.

We talked about many issues that are helping to drive our industry, although most of my discussions focused on integrating cloud and Web solutions, website editing and management, adapting to the workplace of the future, and making company portals easier to use. Other topics that we discussed included implementing and supporting multi-channel marketing efforts, incorporating video and social media, improving the user experience, and online marketing activities.

One thing I found interesting in these discussions with customers and partners was how they validated e-Spirit’s strategy as a best-of-breed vendor for content management solutions. Over the past few years I’ve had several conversations at shows in Europe and the U.S. about the benefits of best-of-breed vs. suite vendors. Considering all of the conversations we had about the demand for integrating B2B solutions, it’s clear to me that companies across multiple industries want best-of-breed solutions, especially now that integration capabilities have improved so much in the past few years and tighter budgets prohibit rip and replace strategies.

Were you at CeBIT 2013? If so, we’d love to hear about your experiences and key takeaways.
