Are your media files up-to-date? Apparently not.

We recently participated in a webinar with our partner Canto, a leading provider of digital asset management (DAM) solutions, to discuss DAM Connect for FirstSpirit and Cumulus and to provide a hands-on demonstration of these systems working together. If you were not able to attend, be sure to check out the on-demand replay.

During the webinar, Canto’s Director of Marketing Leslie Weller asked attendees to identify the biggest challenge they face when it comes to managing digital content. Surprisingly the biggest challenge turned out to be related to speed – updating media files online fast enough. Also more challenging than brand consistency were duplicate files and avoiding manual mistakes – both great reasons for CMS-DAM integration.

While we didn't have the opportunity to delve into the reasons during the webinar, we certainly took the time after the webinar to explore the reasons why the ability to update media files quickly is so important to many marketers.

One important reason has to do with the need to keep fresh content online. Rich media like photos, images and graphics can give a website a fresh look without requiring a complete re-write. The ability to quickly update media files is important in order to keep content fresh, improve your SEO rankings and keep visitors coming back. Another driver is the growing use of personalization. This requires assembling content blocks quickly to appeal to different personas or to support targeted cross-platform campaigns.

When it comes to modern websites, speed is of the essence. That’s why integration of systems such as FirstSpirit and Cumulus is so important to supporting digital transformation. As shown in the webinar, integration eliminates steps and saves time so that you can be more agile and responsive. For instance, a Web editor working in FirstSpirit doesn’t need to switch over to Cumulus to check for the latest version of a media file. With integration, all the latest files in Cumulus are already available and accessible from within the FirstSpirit editing environment.

Be sure to watch the webinar, and then let us know how we can help tackle your biggest online challenges.
